film criticism [under construction]
One side effect of using popular culture as a laboratory for combining the volatile substances mined from Vico and Lacan has been the steady accumulation of film criticism. Centered on works of Alfred Hitchcock and David Lynch, the collection address issues of temporality, defective narration, frame theory, the fourth wall, aphanisis, and the Borgesian quartet of "detached virtualities," travel through time, stories in stories, doubles, and contamination of "realities" by "dreams and fictions."
In a tale of aphanisis and defective narration, The Band's Visit (Eran Kolirin, 2007) addresses directly the defects in the signifying chain that afford opportunities for gesture and Eros working together to create a "silent language" of metalepsis.
